Steeple Aston Scorers:

BCS Bardwell won the Jersey Cup for the first time when they beat Steeple Aston 1 - 0 in Monday's final at Bicester Town.

It was sweet revenge for Bardwell, who lost 2 - 1 to the same opponents in last year's final. The first half was just shaded by Steeple, who went close to scoring after 40 minutes, when a close range effort from man-of-the-match Mick O'Driscoll's was well saved by Andy Simpson in the Bardwell goal

Bardwell dominated the second half and could have gone ahead in the 65th minute when Paul Pickett's long range effort hit the post. The deadlock was finally broken when Bardwell were awarded an indirect free kick just inside the penalty area near the bye-line. Dead ball specialist Dale Jeacock took the kick and fired in a low cross, which was bundled over the line by Oggie Honour. Despite a late onslaught from Steeple, Bardwell hung on to lift the trophy for the first time, having lost their three previous finals. BCS Bardwell squad players W. Bosher I.
