STEEPLE CELEBRATE JERSEY CUP GLORY
CHARLIE'S HEADER ENDS 37 YEAR WAIT FOR SUCCESS
Steeple Aston are celebrating lifting the Jersey Cup for the first time in 37 years, after Charlie Bones header gave them a 2 - 1 victory over BCS Bardwell at Bicester Towns ground on Easter Monday. writes David Gregory.
Bone nodded home the all-important goal, with time running out after a Shaun
Adams penalty had cancelled out Alex Damm's first half opener for Steeple.
Damm struck in the last minute of the first half when Bardwell keeper Andy
Simpson dropped the ball at his feet, and he, who rolled the ball into an
empty net.
Adams equalised from the spot 15 minutes into the second half and the prospect
of extra time and even penalties was looming large until Bone powered home
a header from the edge of the box to seal Steeples victory
