Edge thumps four as BMG win final

At long last the Jersey Cup final has been played. It was won by Bicester Munchengladbach who have waited patiently since their semi-final victory in February for the legal wrangle to settle who their opponents would be.

At the end of the day the Oxfordshire FA decided that Highfield Old Boys semi-final result against KEA Utd should stand. So, on Saturday evening at Rodney House, Bicester, the cup final eventually took place.

Highfield began the match as if they meant business and dominated the early exchanges and it was against the run of play when in the 15th minute Ian Edge capitalised on defensive error to put BMG ahead.

But the dust had hardly settled before Edge popped up again to make it 2-0 and when he completed his hat trick in the 35th minute the contest looked over.

However, Highfield pulled one back in the 43rd minute when John Ralph headed home to give his side a ray of hope. But the flame was soon distinguished when BMG went straight down the other end and struck again, the scorer once more being Ian Edge for his fourth of the half.

By Comparison with the first half the second was quiet with Michael Black getting the only goal for BMG ten minutes before the final whistle to give them a 5-1 victory
