Marauders Strike to win Jersey Cup in extra time

A Danny Cooper strike mid-way through the first period of extra time won the Jersey Cup for Red Lion Marauders at the expense of BCS Bardwell appearing in their second final and suffering the same fate as they did four years ago.

The first 90 minutes were goalless with both defences on top, Marauders doing the bulk of the defending with Neil Brock and Geoff Talboys coping well with Bardwell’s strike force including man-of-the-match Robert Honour.
After Marauders went ahead Bardwell threw everything at them, but with some desperate defending coupled with a shocking miss by Bardwell’s Trevor White, they held out to lift the cup for the second year running.

Lord Jersey vice-president Mr Eddie Dickins presented the cup to winning captain Neil Brock.
Bardwell’s honour received his man-of-the-match trophy from Mr Bert Hughes, an old friend of the Beesley family who donated the trophy in memory of Mark Beesley.
