Kirtlington clinched the 97th Jersey Cup Final at the weekend beating Milcombe.

The goalless first half was almost as dull as the weather. The best chance fell to Kirtlington’s Frankie Godin who created the opening with one of his electrifying runs, but his finish went high and wide.

The deadlock was finally broken on the hour by Kirtlington’s Anthony Long, who fired home a through a ruck of players from the edge of the penalty area. Kirtlington’s lead was short lived. Milcombe got on terms when Phil French completed a good build up by rounding the keeper to score. The tempo increased after this with Kirtlington thwarted by John Humphry in the Milcombe goal who pulled off several fine saves. The match went into extra time with Godin winning the cup for Kirtlington when he scored from close range at the start of the second period.
