KEA’s CUP BID HALTED

The final of the Lord Jersey Cup, played on Bicester Town’s ground on Easter Monday afternoon, brought together league champions KEA Utd looking for a hat-trick of successes in this final and Heyford Athletic, desperate for a win after finishing runners-up in numerous competitions over the last four years.
The first real chance of the match fell to KEA’s Terry O’Neil who shot just wide with the goal at his mercy after ten minutes.

Heyford went close on the half hour when Andy Jupp headed against the bar and then saw his header from the rebound saved by Paul Cook in the KEA goal. Cook was in action five minutes after this when he saved brilliantly from a fierce Neil Falkner shot.

Heyford, who finished the first half strongly, began the second with the same determination and were rewarded with a goal when Dale Jeacock rifled home Neil Falkner’s pin point pass from the edge of the six yard area.

Mid-way through the second half Michael Black equalised for KEA with a looping shot into the top corner.

For the remainder of the game few chances were created at either end as both defences stood firm, leaving the result a 1-1 draw.
The replay will be held on Monday May 4th at Kirtlington, 3-00pm.
