O’NEIL LANDS JERSEY CUP WIN FOR K.E.A

The highlight of the Lord Jersey Football Association is the Lord Jersey cup final and this year, as normal, the match took place on Easter Monday afternoon on Bicester Town’s ground. This year’s finalist were K.E.A. United and Heyford Athletic with K.E.A. winning 2-1.

Paul Jeacock, in goal for Heyford, was the star of the goalless first 45 minutes, pulling off a string of fine saves as Heyford defended against a lively K.E.A. United front line who had the advantage of the strong wind behind them.

The wind worked in Heyford’s favour early in the second half when a John Varney goal kick cleared the K.E.A. defence for Neil Falkner to run on to and slot home a well-taken goal.

Up to this stage Heyford had defended with authority, but they suddenly began to show signs of panic as KEA United moved up a gear. Neil Brayshaw put KEA United on level terms when he fired home an unstoppable shot just inside the far post following a corner kick.

An entertaining second half was climaxed when KEA’s Danny Bone won the ball in the middle of the field and found Johnny Hood on the right wing who sent over an inch perfect cross for Terry O’Neil to place just wide of man of the match Jeacock.
