STALEMATE IN JERSEY FINAL

The Jersey Cup final always attracts quite a good crowd, which is always played on the Town ground on Easter Monday, and again some four to five hundred spectators turned up to watch Heyford Athletic and Brill United do battle for this venerable competition.

It was, in fact, the 90th occasion this final has been held, and it is still not over because it was a 1-1 draw.

R. Brock put Heyford ahead rather against the run of play when he hit a high shot over the keeper’s head, and play was very even until half time.
Brill, with the wind in their favour had failed to take advantage and it was felt that Heyford in the second half would make better use of it, but this was not the case and it was Brill who did the scoring. Russell picked up the ball on the half way line and ran through to put his side level at one all.

Despite great efforts by both sides the deadlock remained and they will meet again on April 8th with a 6.00pm kick off on Bicester Town’s ground.
