ISLIP WIN JERSEY CUP
The replay of the Jersey Cup took place on Friday, again on the Town Ground, between Islip and Bloxham, resulting in a 1-0 win for Islip.
The game was evenly contested, and an improvement on the first match on Easter Monday, when the teams finished with a draw. Islip opened strongly. The Bloxham keeper was kept busy with some shots, which lacked sting. The hard surface of the pitch made ball control difficult causing mistakes to be made by both sides.
Despite having many chances both sides failed to score in the first half.
The pattern remained the same until five minutes from time when Carter,
a prolific scorer for Islip, seized on a centre from Long to score from
close
in.
