A large crowd turned up for the replay of the Jersey Cup Final at Bicester last Saturday evening, when Heyford Athletic established an early three nil lead, then had to defend desperately to hang on to it. Marsh Gibbon scoring twice.

The Athletic were on top in the opening exchanges, and after 25 minutes play they were three goals up and going well. Marsh Gibbon fought back, but were trailing these three goals behind at half-time. Heyford were on the defensive for most of the second half, but there was little constructive play. Had Marsh possessed a forward who could use the ball to advantage they might have won. As it was too much boot was given to the ball and the general idea seemed to be as possible and trust to luck.

McPhee, in the Heyford goal, was besieged at times and regrettably subject to some rough usage, but he dealt very capably with all that came his way and at times performed brilliantly. Marsh Gibbon came right back into the game with two goals, but the Athletic defence was very sound and hung on to their 3-2 lead.

The cup and plaques were presented after the game by Mr A Pratt, of Middle Barton, who was in the 1921 Steeple Aston team which drew with Launton in the final, the replay also failing to produce a decider, and the teams held the trophy for six months each.
