There was a grand day of football at Bicester on Saturday, with nearly 3,000 people paying for admission to the two matches. Over 1,600 were present at the Jersey Cup final in the afternoon, a record attendance, and the 1,300 odd spectators in the evening represented a record for any Bicester Football Club match. The cup final was not exhilarating affair and Kirtlington achieved a fine performance in retaining the trophy after their hectic football programme previously in which they played seven matches in eight days.

Fritwell had their chances, and held a distinctive advantage in height and weight, but were dreadfully slow. The defence, especially, had no idea of using the ball and the forwards suffered in consequence, having to forage for it themselves. Despite this they gave R Hayes a warm time, but this village goalkeeper is especially good and worthy of a place in higher football. His anticipation is clever and his handling of the ball sound, while he wastes no time clearing his goal.

The Kirtlington forwards could make little headway against the Fritwell defence, but the all important goal was the result of an excellent shot by Baxter. R. I. Allen worked tremendously hard, and was always a source of worry to the opposing defence, but he played too much to his brother on the wing. The second half was dull, with Fritwell still having the better of the game territorially, and Kirtlington owed a lot to R. Hayes. With everybody preparing for the presentation of the cup, Fritwell were awarded a penalty, but Pullin shot hopelessly wide, and Kirtlington thus won the cup for the second successive year by the one goal of the match.

Mr G. H. Hannis, the Chipping Norton, vice-chairman of the Oxon F.A., presented the cup and medals to the winners, and runners up medals and the match ball to Fritwell.
