Islip and Heyford United met on Bicester Sports Ground on Tuesday evening in the replay of the Jersey Cup final, and contrary to general expectations, Islip deservedly beat the holders by three goals to one.

With the wind in their favour, Islip soon established a lead of 2 – 0, Gunston scoring in the first minute. Fifteen minutes later Busby beat Ruddle and netted No. 2.

Islip were quicker on the ball, and while they did not exactly rule the play, they nevertheless appeared the better the side all through. After half-an-hour Busby scored again, but before the interval J. Brock reduced the lead. In the second half, despite facing the wind, Islip played confidently, especially Tuffrey in goal, and they had no difficulty in holding the advantage gained in the initial period.

Result Islip 3; Heyford 1.

Lord Jersey presented the cup and medals at the close, this being the first occasion in their history that the Islip club have won a trophy.
