There was another large crowd present on Bicester Sports Ground yesterday week, when Chesterton and Upper Heyford met in the Jersey Cup final replay. There was a fair sprinkling of the “fair sex” word having gone round that the Countess of Jersey would be present, but this was not the case, and the Earl, who had promised to attend, was unable to do so owing to an infected throat, and his brother, the Hon. Mansell Villiers deputised for him.

The teams were unchanged for this match, but there was little improvement on the previous Saturday’s football.

The first half was goalless, but immediately the game re-started J. Brock forced the ball over the line following a scrimmage. Holloway netted for the opposition, but offside was given and Chesterton was denied the honour of winning the cup for the first time.

The Hon. Mansell Villiers afterwards presented the trophy to the Heyford captain and medals to the teams.
