The final of the Jersey Cup, on the Bicester Sports Ground on Saturday, was attended by a larger crowd than ever, added interest being in the fact that the Earl and Countess of Jersey were present at the match, and watched the game from the stand.

This is the Jubilee year of the Association, the first winners of the Cup being Middleton Stoney, and of that successful team five are still alive, two of them, Mr R. Renn, and Mr T. E. Emberlin, being spectators on Saturday Mr H. Elliott, who played in the earlier rounds for Middleton fifty years ago, and Mr H. Varney of Chesterton, who has attended every final, were also present.

The contestants, Chesterton and Heyford battled keenly for the honour of winning the trophy, the former the first time in their history, but there was little constructive play. Play swung first in favour of Chesterton, then Heyford, but no scoring occurred, although Chesterton had much to thank Kerwood for. All shots came alike to him and dealt with many in cool and clever manner. There were no score at half-time. Heyford pressed continuously for some time after change of ends, but Kerwood proved unbeatable and was applauded for his brilliant work in goal. Eventually Scraggs scored for Heyford, after a centre from J. Brock had not been cleared, but immediately after Holloway had a great chance to equalise when he was through on his own, but in attempting to hook the ball over the advancing goalkeeper he shot on to the bar. Later, however, Gregory handled in the penalty area and J. Bowers made no mistake with the spot kick.

Result Chesterton 1; Upper Heyford 1.

There was no extra time, and after a consultation with the Bicester F.C. officials as to the ground being vacant the replay was fixed for last evening.

The Earl of Jersey announced this fact and he and the Countess were warmly cheered as they left
