Fine weather favoured the final of the Jersey Cup on Saturday, when a crowd of over 1,000 were present, the contestants, Upper Heyford (holders) and Kirtlington, being well supported. Kirtlington were the more dangerous but their forwards were sadly lacking in finishing, though having numerous chances. Heyford netted three times in the first half, Savage, F Scraggs and W Scraggs being the scorers. Kirtlington could not get the ball in the net, though having more of the play, and the Heyford keeper was incidently blessed with luck. Kirtlington also failed to convert a penalty kick. Half time Upper Heyford 3, Kirtlington 0. The game was fairly even during the first part of the second half, but later Kirtlington monopolised the play and were awarded another penalty, this being also missed. The “Lilywhites” forwards were sadly at fault but Peverill did at least reduce the lead. Heyford were able to carry off the trophy for the second season in succession.

Result – Upper Heyford 3; Kirtlington 1.

At the conclusion Dr G.N. Montgomery presented the cup and medals.
