The Jersey Cup final was played on the Bicester Ground on Saturday, before a good crowd, the contestants being Kidlington and Fritwell. The result was a win for Kidlington who carried off the trophy for the first time after being in the competition for 20 years. A strong wind was a troubled some factor and play did not reach a very high standard at any time. Kidlington just about deserved their win though their opponents missed several chances, especially in the first half. Fritwell were well served by their center-half and right winger, the latter being a source of danger to the Kidlington defence, but he received little support.

Fritwell opened promisingly and a splendid pass from I. Gibbard sent L. Allen through to test Bennett with a good shot, which the goalie scrambled away for a fruitless corner. Turner also hit the upright in another Fritwell attack. They put on persistent pressure, and forced several corners. From one of these kicks accurately placed by L. Allen, I. Gibbard headed a beautiful goal. With the wind in their favour, Fritwell gave the opposing defence a warm time, while their own rear guard had very little to do. Hollis sent across, leaving Gibbard with a open goal, but he stumbled and a Kidlington back cleared. Lean dribbled the ball half the length of the field, his finishing shot just scraping the cross-bar. Play was quiet for some time with Fritwell easily holding their own.

Fritwell almost added to their lead on the resumption, three of their forwards in front of the Kidlington goal endeavouring to kick the ball through, but they got mixed up and the ball went behind. Thomas got away and Moore saved his shot. L. Allen had hard luck with a great drive which hit the post and Bennett cleared. Loft nearly headed through his own goal from another center by Allen. Kidlington had more of the play but Allen defended stoutly. A nice forward movement by Kidlington ended in Gardner scoring with a first time effort. Moore fumbled a shot later, but recovered and cleared, and also got away an overhead kick by Noble. Fritwell were not so well together as in the first half and their opponents were having most of the play. The winning goal was eventually obtained by Thomas, who rushed the ball into the net, after Moore had partly saved a corner kick. Kidlington held their own until the end.

Result: Kidlington 2; Fritwell 1.

The Earl of Jersey presented the Cup and medals and gave a short speech as also did the captains of the respective teams.
